What is the Parents Association?
The Parents Association at The Lynn Gross Discovery School (PS 175Q) is a volunteer organization with a long and cherished tradition of dedicated involvement.
The PA plays an essential role in our school - our mission is to enhance the experience of every child who enters.
We work collaboratively with Principal Teutschman, school administration, and our beloved Parent Coordinator, Ms. Lugo to facilitate parent engagement.
We also work with the SLT, Beacon Y, ThinkingCap, and the larger community to host programs and events for our parents and families.
And most importantly, we work with YOU - our parents and families are our most important partners.
What does the PA do?
We bridge the gap between home and school by promoting communication and understanding between our families and our school.
We provide leadership and direction to parents and families seeking to become more involved within the school community.
The PA board organizes our resources to support a variety of programs that enrich the lives of our students.

How can parents get involved?
Attend our monthly meetings!
At each meeting, we discuss important updates along with new and old business. Principal Teutschman joins us to deliver her report before opening the floor to answer any parent questions.
Parents are automatically considered members of the Parents Association at The Lynn Gross Discovery School (PS 175Q). As a volunteer organization, we rely heavily on our community.
Remember, there is space for everyone - no commitment is too small!
Volunteer to be a class parent!
A class parent is a valuable and essential figure within a classroom community. They play a critical role in fostering a positive and productive learning environment for both students and teachers.
The responsibilities of a class parent can vary based on the teacher's preferences and the unique dynamics of the classroom, but their overarching purpose remains constant: to support the teacher, students, and parents in achieving a successful educational experience.
If you're interested or want additional information, contact your classroom teacher or the PA!
Teach a Master Class!
Incorporating parents as guest teachers for Master Classes enriches the educational experience by bringing in a wealth of practical expertise, fostering a stronger sense of community, and inspiring students to think about their future paths. It's an effective way to bridge the gap between academic learning and the real world, benefiting students and parents alike.
Contact Ms. Lugo if you are interested and to get additional information!
Sign up to be a PA volunteer!
Parents Association volunteers help us create a thriving and supportive educational community.
Volunteering for the parents association is not only about supporting the school but also about actively participating in your child's educational journey. It strengthens the sense of community, improves communication, enhances the learning environment, and fosters a positive atmosphere where parents, teachers, and students work together for a common goal: the success and well-being of each child.
If you're interested, please email your contact information to the PA and we will be in touch!
